Genesis 1: 1 - 3
In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form and void, and darkness was over the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light.
Let us meditate upon the "Light"
- Before the Light, Earth was formless.
- Before the Light, Earth was void.
- Creation on Earth Started with the Occurence of Light.
- The Light was not created by any body but the Light marked His presence all Himself
- With Light's occurence the darkness was gone.
- If we read further in the chapter, all thing on and for Earth were created during day i.e. in presence of Light.
- When God saw everything after His work each day, He saw them during day i.e. in Light.
- And He saw that everything was good.
- When we read the Gospel of John chapter 1 we find that:
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. - Later we see that John introduces this Light to us, when he says:
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men. And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not....... That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. - God Said and God Made/Created.
- God the Word Who is the true Light.
- In Him and through Him and By Him all things were made.
- Hence we see that Light here makes the Trinity complete.
- The Light is Jesus Himself who is the Glory of God (2 Cor 4:6) and second person of Trinity.
