Meditation on 'Earth'

Posted on: 31-10-2010

Genesis 1: 11 - 13 (KJV)

"And God said, Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb yielding seed, and the fruit tree yielding fruit after his kind, whose seed is in itself, upon the earth: and it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, and herb yielding seed after his kind, and the tree yielding fruit, whose seed was in itself, after his kind: and God saw that it was good. And the evening and the morning were the third day. "

Let us meditate upon the "Earth"

  • If we look in the previous verses, God commended the earth to come out of water and it so happened.
  • On the third day, God commended earth to bring forth diverse vegetation: And we see that God did not make but the earth itserlf brought forth the vegetation of diverse kind.
  • Earth followed the instructions of God and obeyed His command.
  • Jesus also said (Mark 4:28) that the earth brings forth fruit of herself.
  • To obey the Word of God is the Quality of earth.
  • Later in Genesis 2 we see that God created man out of the dust of ground (earth).
  • The Life came from God and the quality to obey came from ground (earth). When Adam and Eve sinned, earth was cursed for the sin of Adam.
  • To remove the curse, God the Son Himself had to come in the body made of earth (Heb 10:5)
  • The ground coming out of water resembles baptism which makes a person born again.
  • As we get baptised it becomes our duty to obey God.
  • The body (earth) becomes temple of God (1Cor 6:19)
  • We read further:
1Co 6:20 For ye are bought with a price: therefore glorify God in your body, and in your spirit, which are God's.

Prayer:

God please help me to be obedient to your Word and to do your will. I believe that the curse which came upon me as a result of disobedience has already been removed by the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. As You bought me by the Blood of Jesus, help me to live for your glory.
Amen
