And Joshua fell on his face to the earth, and did worship, and said unto him, What saith my lord unto his servant? - Joshua 5:13,14 (KJV)
Let us examine the verse:
- First of all we see that Joshua asks the man that whose side he is.
Like Joshua we also question God many times in our troubles and trials that whose side He is "ours" or "enemy's" - But we forget the answer given by that man to Joshua:
He said "Nay". The amplified bible gives another possible word for it which is nither. - That Man was neither on Joshua's side nor his enemy's.
- The Man was on God's Side
- Joshua was left with only one option and that was to choose God's side.
- The rest of it is known to us that how Joshua could take hold of the fortified and great city of Jericho with the help of God.
- It is quite simple, if we want to gain victory over our weaknesses, diseases, problems etc. which may look great and fortified like Jericho
We should not wait for God to come on our side and help us but we must turn back, repent and choose to come on God's side. - If we do so we will definately see the Hand of God protecting us and helping us.
- For the Lord says "Be holy because I am holy."
- Prophet Elijah also asked people to choose a side:
And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word. 1Kings 18:21 (KJV) - The people of Nineveh, Whom God wanted to destroy, turned from their ways and chose God's side. God forgave them and they were saved.
Prayer:
Dear God help us to turn back and come to you like the Prodigal son so that we may always live in you holy presence. Amen & Amen
