In remembrance of me!

"For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, "This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me."
—1 Corinthians 11:23-24
Nobody can deny the fact that Christ came into this world as Man, suffered for our iniquities, took the burden of our sins upon Himself and died on the cross. On the third day he was raised from the dead by the power of the Holy Spirit.
We all believe this and to keep this work of Jesus alive in our hearts we observe various customs and feasts, celebrations, mourning etc. But in the entire Bible there is one verse where Jesus speaks His heart out "do this in remembrance of Me"
Brothers and sisters there is no other way we can remember Him. We can remember the stories and the Gospel by feasting and mourning but we cannot remember Him unless we follow what He said. Let us focus on what He did and said:
"He took Bread, gave thanks and broke it"
Two times in the Gospels we find that Jesus took bread, gave thanks and broke it and fed multitude. We need to understand that when God breaks something, He does it not divide but to multiply. That's why five loaves and two fishes were sufficient to feed the 5000 and seven loaves and some small fishes were sufficient for a crowd of 4000.
"He said, 'this is my body, which is for you' "
Here we see that the Lord declares that the bread broken is His body. He also said in the Gospel that I am the bread of Life. Jesus when became man He became limited to one body but when He died and resurrected His limitations also ended. When He broke the bread (or in other sense his body) He multiplied it and gave to disciples so that His body becomes theirs and theirs His. Jesus was not given a body on this earth for Himself but for the believers. It was for the sacrifice of sin. The offerings in the temple are eaten by the priests (Leviticus 6:26 The priest who offers it shall eat it). Peter says that we are the Royal priests.
"do this in remembrance of me."
Communion is the only thing the Lord says to do to REMEMBER Him. No celebrations and no customs but just to partake in His communion is what Lord commanded us in the Word. Communion is the way of becoming one with the Lord. It is the way to remember his sacrifice. It is the way of remembering His death.
The Bible in the book of acts says that the early disciples gathered daily for the breaking of bread –
"And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart" – Acts 2:46
The breaking of bread brought gladness and singleness in the early Church.
May God belss us all and help us to commune with Him daily.
Amen.
