Genesis 1: 28 - 30 (KJV)
And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every. living thing that moveth upon the earth.
And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
Let us meditate upon "Fruit & Seed"
- In verse 28 we see that God blessed men as - "Be Fruitful, Multiply, Replenish & Subdue Earth and Have Dominion over all other living creatures." Later in verses 29-30 God gave us for food herbs bearing SEED and FRUITS bearing SEED
- To all other creatures, who have life in them, He gave herbs (and not SEED) for food.
- If we look in the Bible SEED represents the Word of God.
- It is our privilege that God has made provision for both our physical and spiritual hunger.
- Herbs and fruits for the physical hunger and Seed for the spiritual hunger.
- He has provided for our complete nourishment and blessed us by saying BE FRUITFULL at first place (and all other blessings follow).
- Now if we deeply observe,
We see that God gave us fruits with seeds for food and with His blessings He expects us to bear fruits for Him with His SEED in them. - We can look at the fruits of Spirit mentioned in Gal. Ch. 5
- Now the Bible says in Mat. 3:10, 7:19 & Luk 3:9 - "And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: every tree therefore which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire."
- Jesus also said the same in Mat.7 adding to it he says that a tree is known by its fruits
- He gave a parable in Luk 13:6-9 related to importance of bearing fruit and saving ourselves from the lake of fire.
- In Mat. 7:15-27 Jesus mentioned both fruits and the gifts of the Holy Spirit.
- Now there is a point that gifts will not lead us to heaven but fruits will. Gifts are received but Fruits are borne.
- Gifts confirm the Word but Fruits bear the Word.(SEEDS in Them)
- Gifts are menifested by God's Power upon us but Fruits are borne by God's Power in us.
- A person with Gifts may get rejected during judgement Mat. 7:15-27 but against a person, who bears fruits, there is no Law Gal. 5:22-23.
- Therefore let us be zealous to bear good fruits for God and then desire spiritual gifts as Paul said:
1Co 14:1 Pursue love, and earnestly desire the spiritual gifts...(ESV)
Prayer:
Dear God, forgive me for my sins and clense me with the blood of Jesus Christ my Saviour.
Anoint me with your Holy Spirit and make me a new person in Christ Jesus.
Help me to bear good fruit and live henceforth according to your Word.
