SABBATH- HOLY DAY OF REST
Posted on: 08-08-2019
It is God made law that after certain amount of work, rest is mandatory. Mankind has learned this law from God in Garden of Eden as recorded in the book of Genesis. The seventh day is set aside as a holy day of rest as mentioned in book of Exodus. When Lord Yeshua the Messiah did three- and half-year ministry in physical body. Sabbath became an important element in his ministry. Lord Yeshua came to earth to give rest to mankind from heavy burden, free them from captivity of sin introduced by the evil one to be sanctified by lamb of God.
In book of Matthew chapter 12 we find an interesting conversation between Lord Yeshua the Messiah and the Pharisees in the grain fields, Lord Yeshua the Messiah clearly describes about David eating from the show bread along with his fellow men on the sabbath day from the temple. Lord Yeshua also declares his supremacy as the Lord of the Sabbath. Further Lord Yeshua healed the man with withered hand in the synagogue. Lord Yeshua the Messiah challenged the traditions and rituals followed by the Jewish people analyzing the main purpose of their motive. Their motive was to contaminate the laws with rituals and traditions so that their importance as leaders in the temple is maintained even if it involves denying the importance and will of Most High God.
Let us also mediate on crucifixion, burial and resurrection of our Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Sabbath has also been closely linked with all these events. If we study “And that day was the preparation, and the Sabbath drew on. (Luke 23:54)”, Joseph went to Pilate and ask for body of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah. Due to Sabbath as it was the holy day of rest.
Similarly when we study resurrection of the Lord Yeshua the Messiah, “And when the Sabbath was past, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, and Salome, had bought sweet spices, that they might come and anoint him.(Mar 16:1). They found Lord Yeshua the Messiah was not there, a young man sitting on right side, clothed in long white garment. Now we know all that it is written that son of man will spend three full days and nights in the heart of the earth as mentioned in Matthew 12:40. So that implies there were two sabbath in this period of crucifixion, burial and resurrection. This leads us to what was explained by Apostle Paul in book of Hebrews: Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it. For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it. For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world. For he said in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works. And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest. Seeing therefore it remain that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief: Again, he limit a certain day, saying in David, Today, after so long a time; as it is said, Today if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts. For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day. There remain therefore a rest to the people of God. (Heb 4:1-9)
So we as the people of Lord Yeshua the Messiah will enter rest at Rapture before the tribulation i.e. Gentiles and from the Chosen Nation the Israelites will enter rest at Rapture during the tribulation when the One lac forty four thousand as their number is given in Revelation chapter 7.
So, we need to prepare ourselves to be considered eligible by lord Yeshua the Messiah, under the guidance of Holy Spirit. If we are left, we will face tribulation and a ferocious fight of faith.
Yeshua the Messiah is coming soon!!!
