Today we will meditate
under the guidance of the Holy Spirit on the Parable of Dishonest Manager given in chapter
Luke 16: 1 to 13. The parable starts with two main characters i.e., Rich Man
and his Manager who is appointed to look after Rich Man’s possession. Charges were
brought against Manager who was wasting Rich Man’s possession.
Rich Man called Manager
and said to him “Give an accounting of your management because you cannot be
Manager any longer” as there was no excuse in defense left with the
manager.
1. MANAGER THOUGHT TO PREPARE
FOR HIS FUTURE UNEMPLOYMENT. INSTEAD OF REPENTANCE, HE WAS FILLED WITH PRIDE.
SO, HE FOCUSED ON HOW TO GET FAVOUR FROM OTHER PEOPLE (BASICALLY THE DEBTORS OF
RICH MAN).
So, the Manager called First
Debtor, asked, “How much do you owe to My Master?”. He said One hundred
measures of Oil, He said to him, “Take your bill, and sit down quickly and
write fifty”. Then he said to another, “And how much do you owe?” He said, “A
hundred measures of Wheat.” He said to him, “Take your bill and write eighty.”
UNJUST ACCOUNTING PRACTICES to cheat the Rich Man.
2. The Rich Man commends the
dishonest manager for his shrewdness. because HE IS trying to cheat more DUE
TO FEAR OF FUTURE UNEMPLOYMENT, without understanding that Rich man is much
wealthier than his imagination.
Luke 19:8 And Zacchaeus stood and said to the Lord, “Behold, Lord, the
half of my goods I give to the poor. And if I have defrauded anyone of
anything, I restore it fourfold.”
Lord Yeshua told “For the
sons of this world are shrewder in dealing with their own generation than the
sons of light”.
3. YES, BECAUSE SONS OF LIGHT
ARE PILGRIMS ON EARTH AS IT IS WRITTEN IN LIVING WORD OF GOD: COLOSSIANS 3:2 SET YOUR MINDS ON THINGS THAT ARE
ABOVE, NOT ON THINGS THAT ARE ON EARTH.
Further, Lord Yeshua said
make friends for yourselves by means of unrighteous wealth, so that they may
receive you into the eternal dwellings.
4. FOCUS IS TO MOVE FROM
SELF-GREED TO GOD’S GRACE. WHO ARE FRIENDS
FOR ETERNITY? Lord Yeshua explained: John 15:13-14 “Greater love has no one than this, that someone
lay down his life for his friends. You are my friends if you do what I command you.” Revelation 3:20 “Behold, I stand at the door and
knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come into him and
eat with him, and he with me.” Why we need Lord Yeshua only because Proverbs 13:8 The ransom of a man's life
is his wealth, but a poor man hears no threat.
Here is the catch as laid
by Lord Yeshua our Messiah in Luke 16:10 “One who is
faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in
a very little is also dishonest in much.
5. YOU CANNOT HIDE ANYTHING
FROM GOD, as it is written in Proverbs 21:30 “There is no wisdom nor understanding nor counsel
against the LORD.” If you continue to hide things surely, you’re
building up your punishment from the Lord.
6. In conclusion
of the parable, Lord Yeshua told: Luke
16:13 “No
servant can serve two masters; for either, he will hate the one and love the other,
or he will stick by one and look down on the other. You cannot serve God and
money.” NEVER REJECT, DISAPPROVE, DISHONOUR THE SERVICE OF THE
LORD IN YOUR LIFE, AS DONE BY ISRAELITE PRIESTS mentioned in
Malachi 3:14 “Ye
have said, It is vain to serve God: and
what profit is it that we have kept his ordinance, and that we have walked mournfully before the LORD of hosts?”
7. OUR DUTY IS TO OBEY AND
TEACH THE SOUND DOCTRINE OF LIVING GOD YESHUA OUR MESSIAH as explained
by Apostle Paul in Titus 2:9-10 Urge slaves to submit themselves to their own masters
in all things, well-pleasing and not back-talking, (10) not stealing
but showing all good faithfulness, so that they may do credit to the teaching
about God our Saviour in everything.
Remember
As our Lord Yeshua
our Messiah has explained Luke 12:42-43 “AND THE LORD SAID, “WHO THEN IS THE FAITHFUL AND WISE MANAGER, WHOM THE MASTER WILL PUT IN
CHARGE OF HIS SERVANTS, TO GIVE THEM THEIR FOOD PORTION AT THE PROPER TIME?
(43) BLESSED IS THAT SERVANT WHOSE MASTER FINDS HIM SO DOING WHEN
HE COMES.”
