Lord Yeshua our Messiah had spoken this statement describing the
Parable of Wedding Feast. Let us try to meditate upon this statement with
reference to certain characters in the Holy Bible. Genesis 12 mentions the
Calls of Abram, who obeyed the instructions from Lord Jehovah. Due to Abram’s
obedience manifested in his regular walk-in front of the Lord. He was later called Abraham which means
“Father of Multitude” when Jehovah GOD initiated his covenant with him as
mentioned in Genesis 17.
Now let us look at one more character known as Jonah who was reluctant
to his calling travel to Nineveh and warn its resident impending divine wrath.
Jonah later realized that one cannot run away from GOD and disobedience will
create turmoil in our life.
Further, there is one interesting character known as the king
Nebuchadnezzar. In the book of Daniel chapter 4, King Nebuchadnezzar learns the
lesson of becoming humble. The
powerful king has a disturbing dream about a tree, eating grass for seven
seasons and through this, God teaches him humility. He discovers that a life
that pleases God requires a humble heart, by knowing the Most-High rules in the
kingdom of men and gives it to whomever GOD’s will.
Now let us meditate on one of the faith-filled women mentioned in the
Holy Bible. She was known as Hannah as mentioned in 1 Samuel Chapter 1 & 2.
Her longing for a child and season of waiting was expressed in the scriptures,
although her Husband loved remained the same as during those times barrenness
bought shame upon the family, she was praying to the Lord to remove her shame. The most important characteristic was her
persistency in prayer, trusting GOD to answer the prayers at HIS appointed time.
This made her receive more than she asked for leading her to understand not only her
calling but also discovering the attributes of the living GOD, mentioning
prophecy for coming to Messiah as mentioned in 1 Samuel chapter 2. This all leads to one understand that
calling matures later in one’s life only by the grace of GOD.
Now we focus on the next part of the verse known as being Chosen or
Selected. Holy Bible clearly describes the calling of God matures into being
chosen or elected among the rebellion.
In the book of Numbers chapter 16, describes the rebellion of Korah. Korah
challenged Moses, actually God (Num. 26:9), it was a
satanic rebellious attitude because Korah and the others did not respect the
leader God had put in charge. "We are here because we believe you are
taking on too much power. You and your priests act as though you are holier
than any of the rest of us. If we are God’s chosen people, then all of
us are holy and the Lord is with us. Why do you set yourselves above the Lord’s
assembly?" (Num. 16:1-3). The ground under Korah, Dathan, and Abiram tent split
apart and the earth opened her mouth and swallowed them up, and their households,
and all the men who were for Korah, and all their goods. They and all that they had gone down alive into
Sheol, and the earth closed upon them. And they perished from among the
congregation. The rebellion of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram demonstrates the ugly
consequences of seizing authority of GOD and of those whom HE has chosen to be
leaders of HIS people.
Further, the Israelites continued
to grumble and complain and blamed Moses and Aaron for the deaths of their
fellow Israelites. They did not believe that the destruction the previous day
had come from God (Num. 16:41).
Later Aron’s staff buds out as a sign to the Israelites. Numbers
17:10 And Jehovah said to Moses, Bring Aaron's rod again before the
testimony, to be kept as a token against the rebels. And you shall completely
take away their murmurings from Me so that they do not die.
Similarly, in the New Testament when Peter and John were on the way to the temple at the hour of prayer as mentioned in the book of Acts chapter 3. They
saw a lame beggar at the temple gate which is called Beautiful, to ask alms
from those who entered into the temple. When the beggar asked for alms, expecting
to receive something from them. Acts
3:6-8 But Peter said, Silver and gold have I none, but what I have I give
you. In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk! (7)
And taking him by the right hand, he lifted him up. And immediately his feet
and ankle-bones received strength. (8) And leaping up, he stood and
walked and entered with them into the temple, walking and leaping and praising
God. Due to healing and
testimony of the lame, later Peter & John were made to stand before the
Council and sent with a warning.
So, in a nutshell, Calling matures with time i.e., in reference to our
obedience with GOD. When we recognize our calling and walk-in obedience, there
always be a Korah or Dathan or Abiram to challenge your calling, you do not
need to reply to them let God answer for you.
