A strange communication is mentioned when Lord Yeshua restores a demon-possessed man in the region of Gerasene near the lake of Galilee as mentioned
in the gospel of Luke chapter 8. When Lord Yeshua asked: “What is your name?”.
“Legion”, he replied. Further, it is written “And they
begged Him that He would not command them to go out into the abyss.”
There must be some compelling reason which made the demonic legion request
Lord Yeshua not to command them to move into the abyss. Abyss means a deep bottomless cavity. Does our
scripture describe anything about the abyss?
The answer is Yes, in the book of Revelation chapter 9 verses 1 and 2
mentions Angel having the key of Abyss, coming and opening the
bottomless pit. There arose a smoke out of the pit, like the smoke of a great furnace.
Further in Revelation chapter 20 verses
1 to 3 mentions about the Angel having the key of Abyss and a great chain in
his hand, he laid hold on the dragon or old serpent and bound him 1000 years
into the bottomless pit of the abyss and shut him up and set a seal on him.
The above scriptures make it clear that Satan and his entire demonic
legions know very well about their future judgment.
Messiah Yeshua our Lord declared HIS authority in Jerusalem after
healing at the Sabbath as mentioned in John chapter 5. In verses 26 & 27, He
mentioned two things i.e., Firstly, the
SON has life within himself, Secondly Father has given authority to execute
judgment also because HE is the son of MAN. Only Lord YESHUA our Messiah has authority
to execute Judgement on the whole creation MANKIND. Satan or the Old Serpent
and his entire Demonic legion are included in it. The demonic legion is aware of
it which is why requesting not to send them into the abyss at that moment.
Let us meditate on the first statement on Son given by Lord Yeshua himself
that “HE has life within Himself”.
This was witnessed by Victory of Resurrection from Dead by Messiah
Yeshua our Lord to the entire creation.
He was buried and raised on the third day according to the scriptures. Everything
as prophesied about Messiah in scriptures was fulfilled by Messiah Yeshua our
Lord.
After HIS resurrection from the dead, Lord Yeshua first appeared to
Mary met two disciples on the road to Emmaus, where he talked and explained
everything about himself as mentioned in the scriptures. He appeared to them allowing
his hands and feet to be inspected by disciples which were bearing marks of
nail piercement. He ate fish in their presence and again communicated with them
for 40 days before HIS ascension to Heaven in front of them.
Resurrection of
Lord Yeshua our Christ is the central foundation of Christian Life. That is why Apostle Paul in his First Letter to Corinthians says: If
in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable. 1
Corinthians 15:20 “But now
Christ has risen from the dead and has become the first fruit of those who
slept.”
This is also known as Resurrection of Life or the First
Resurrection as mentioned in the book of Revelation chapter 20: verse 5 and
the Resurrection of Judgement known as Second death as mentioned
in Revelation chapter 20 verses 13 to 15. Here Resurrection comes with the execution
of Judgement on mankind. Those who have followed Lord Yeshua will receive the resurrection of Life whereas as per the scriptures those who have rejected and
ignore Lord Yeshua will receive the resurrection of Judgement.
This was also earlier explained by Lord Yeshua our Messiah in John
chapter 5 verse 29: And shall
come forth, those who have done good to the resurrection of life, and those who
have practiced evil to the resurrection of condemnation.
Ignorance is not going to help in this situation. Now the solution lies
in receiving the grace of living GOD through his son. We need to confess with our
mouths and believe in our hearts that Lord Yeshua is my Messiah to overcome the
resurrection of condemnation. Apostle Paul explains vividly in Romans chapter 6
- We have to become dead in sin and alive to GOD through faith in Lord Yeshua
our Messiah in our everyday life on this earth.
Grace is not given to continue in sin rather a step towards the movement of
immersion into HIS death in order just as our Messiah was raised from the dead
by the glory of the father, so we too might walk in newness of life.
The central theme is after
immersion in HIS death, do not let sin rule in your mortal body so that you
obey its desires. Our aim as a believer till our last breath on this earth is
to strive for receiving God’s gracious gift which is eternal life in Messiah
Yeshua our Lord.
