FASTING: RITUAL or a NECESSITY
Posted on: 14-04-2012
As the lent season starts, we witness all the religious Christian coming out of their shell and declaring their righteousness in their so called esteemed social circle. They also declare that at this season they will do forth days FASTING and display extreme sincerity in front of the other men. But the basic point is that “You are answerable to living GOD who gave you this life, not the people around you” The Bible declare in ISAIAH chapter 58 verse 2 and 3 “Yet they seek me daily, and delight to know my ways, as a nation that did righteousness, and forsook not the ordinance of their God: they ask of me the ordinances of justice; they take delight in approaching to God. Wherefore have we fasted, say they, and thou see not? Wherefore have we afflicted our soul, and thou take no knowledge? Behold, in the day of your fast ye find pleasure, and exact all your labours.”
Then the questions is does the Lord Jesus Christ can fix up this mess of our lives? The answer is YES, but what I have to do, in ISAIAH chapter 58 verse 13 it tell us if we honour LORD by “NOT DOING THINE OWN WAYS, NOR FINDING THINE OWN PLEASURE, NOR SPEAKING THINE OWN WORDS”.
Which means to live as Jesus Christ told us to do in Matthew chapter 5 verse 44 “But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you; That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven”. This will happen when we INVITE our living God JESUS in our lives. The ZEAL for JESUS lead us to thirsty as psalmist, crying out in our heart that as hart panteth after the water brooks, so panteth my soul after thee, O GOD!. We will feel sorrow like PAUL in book of Romans Chapter 9 “I say the truth in Christ, I lie not, my conscience also bearing me witness in the Holy Ghost, That I have great heaviness and continual sorrow in my heart.”
So Fasting is done to establish the grace of LORD JESUS CHRIST in our LIVES.
God BELSS you in JESUS Mighty Name
AMEN!
